Jesus XP is a discipleship experience rooted in ways of Jesus. Small groups gather to explore how Jesus related to God and others by reading the Gospels and engaging in spiritual practices that help center them in his ways. The focus is not on answers but on experiencing Jesus—encouraging participants to ask questions and reflect on his words and actions as they learn to follow him together.
This 8-session journey moves your group through the Gospel of Luke with each session focusing on a Bible reading, thoughtful questions around Jesus’ life, and a spiritual practice to consider. Between sessions, participants will read the words of Jesus and commit to spiritual habits that deepen their connection with God. After the 8 sessions, the journey unfolds into a personal experience that encourages ongoing curiosity around the words and ways of Jesus.
What makes the Gospel of Luke unique?
The Book of Luke chronicles Jesus’ ministry with an emphasis on the outsiders in society, the marginalized people society generally ignored or ridiculed. Jesus presents himself as an outsider—marginalized from the existing political and economic power structures in Judea. Luke also presents a “radical hospitality” element of Jesus’ ministry. In Luke, it seems that Jesus is always going to a meal, at a meal, or leaving a meal. This view into Jesus’ ministry demonstrates with his actions as well as his words that Jesus welcomes all of us, as is, to his table.
